Our Commitment to Community
JFM’s longstanding commitment to serving the community extends well beyond work on current projects.
How we engage…
Beyond our consulting work, JFM has a longstanding commitment to serving the local community through service volunteer and pro bono service. These practices are the cornerstone of our community service culture at JFM.
We demonstrate this commitment in three ways. First, through volunteer service to the community. JFM regularly seeks out and partners with local community-based organizations to identify opportunities to support their missions through a variety of community service activities, ranging from packing meals for delivery to residents to planting trees in a neighborhood park. Through these activities we increase an organization’s capacity to meet the needs of the community.
In addition to the volunteer service that we provide as a team, JFM has established a Volunteer Time Off (VTO) policy to support any team member who would like to give back to the community beyond the service we provide as a team. Through VTO, JFM team members may utilize up to 20 hours of paid time off per year to engage in volunteer activities in the community. Team members can identify and engage in the volunteer activities that matter most to them, whether it’s staffing a vital hotline service or volunteering to read as part of a youth literacy program. The community benefits from having additional volunteer resources that otherwise might not be available. And an added bonus—there’s a ton of data showing that volunteering has a positive impact on a person’s social, mental and physical well-being. It’s a triple win!!
Our commitment to community is also demonstrated through Impact Squared, a friendly storytelling competition that JFM created several years ago to gives local nonprofit organizations the chance to compete for pro bono services. Organizations tell a five-minute story of the impact their organization has had on the community, and a panel of judges and the audience vote to select the best stories. The top three organizations winning a package of pro bono services from JFM. We are in the process of revamping the program, with plans to launch Impact Squared 2.0 in 2025. The updated Impact Squared will include a component to help support local small businesses in addition to nonprofit organizations. We eagerly look forward to continuing to support the community through the next phase of Impact Squared!
